Water Main Upgrade in Ness, Isle of Lewis
Project Overview
We are investing approximately £4.5million to the water services in your community by upgrading 15km of water pipes in Ness on the Isle of Lewis to ensure you continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water, and reduce the chance of pipes bursting.
Upgrade work is planned to start on Wednesday 16 October 2024, with the whole project taking approximately 15 months.
The work is being carried out by D Mackay & Sons, on behalf of our alliance partner, Caledonia Water Alliance.

What To Expect?
Most of the work will be carried out on the verge next to the single track road, or in the road.
There will be roadworks during the dates. This may include the use of temporary traffic lights, localised road closures, and some access restrictions. Advance signage will be in place ahead of any work in roads.
Our site team will liaise with any customer whose access may be restricted during the work.
The appointed contractor will do all they can to keep disruption to a minimum.
The work will be carried out on a rolling basis, as part of a wider programme. Please note, dates and durations are subject to change depending on progress of the work.
