Stevenston Rising Sewer Main Burst

Large Scale Repair
Multiple sections of pipe across the area have now been replaced.
We have now completed an urgent repair on a 700mm rising sewer main in Stevenston, next to Ardeer Primary School.
CCTV checks showed the underground pipe was in particularly poor condition with multiple bursts along approximately 150m of its length. We have now installed nearly 100m of new pipe within the boundary of the school and towards the Shore Road car park.
We are also checking the rest of the sewer network within the school grounds to make sure there are no wider issues.
With the flows once again active in the rising main, our attention now turns to reinstating the areas where we have carried out work.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Each section of new pipe is seven metres long

Further repairs outwith the school grounds were needed
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) was kept informed throughout these emergency works, with everything done to minimise any impact on the environment and disruption for residents.
We thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we undertook these emergency repairs.

Each burst required a large excavation
