What we are doing
The project involved installing new larger sewer pipes along sections of Marchmont Crescent and a small part of Marchmont Road, with an underground storm overflow tank which measures 15m wide by 20m deep
Two control kiosks were installed adjacent to Warrender Park Terrace. See updated planning drawings for exact location
All planning drawings are available to view/download via the link further down the page
Why we are doing it
A number of properties in the area have previously been affected by sewer flooding.
The work we have delivered here will increase the capacity of the local waste water network and provide extra storage during heavy rainfall.
This improvement project will help reduce the risk of flooding in the area.
Update June 2025
We have connected the new sewer from Marchmont Crescent onto the existing sewer on Marchmont Road and reinstated the area next to Warrender Park Terrace.
Community groups and school pupils took part in an event to sow the seeds of a wildflower meadow on the site of the works in mid-June.
Creation of the meadow was led by Dr Tim Duffy, Chair of the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Lothian Members Group and David Kyles of the City of Edinburgh Council. It will take around a year to establish, during which time fencing will remain around the perimeter of the site.
