Project Overview
We are investing approximately £3.56m to upgrade the mains water pipes in Oban.
Over the next 12 months Scottish Water will upgrade approximately 2.5km of pipes.
Work will be undertaken by our partner Caledonia Water Alliance and takes place in an area where customers have experienced circa. 10 bursts/interruption to supplies since 2020.
The project will run across multiple phases.

What we are doing
This project involves upgrading approximately 2.5km of mains water pipes in Oban.
There will be multiple phases which stretch from an area at Oban Saints Football Club to Polvinster Road throughout a 12-month period.
As part of the work, we will need to widen Glencruitten Road and break a large quantity of rockface/rock near Polvinster Road.
The phases are outlined below.
Phase 1
Starting mid-January for approximately four weeks Glencruitten Road will be widened with temporary traffic measures put in place.
Phase 2
Piping will be laid on Glencruitten Road, it is estimated traffic management will be in place until June 2025.
Phase 3
Starting in mid-February pipes will be laid around Oban Saints Football Club on Mossfield Avenue, the pitch will remain open.
Phase 4
Mossfield Avenue and Oban Saints Football Club Car Park will be closed. Local access only will be maintained.
Phase 5
Mossfield Avenue will be closed from Mossfield Drive to Glencruitten Drive. Local access only will be maintained.
Phase 6
Mossfield Avenue will have temporary traffic lights erected.
Phase 7
Polvinster Road will be closed between 9.30am and 3pm for approximately two months.
