22 July 2024Scottish Water marks a decade of Pride support with Glasgow's 10th Top Up Tap
A decade of Pride support calls for a celebratory 10th Top Up Tap to mark the occasion
“It was brilliant to see so many supporters embracing the celebrations. Pride is about championing acceptance of diversity and equality for all, empowering people to be able to live their authentic lives.

It was also a bonus to unveil Glasgow's latest Top Up Tap when the streets were so bright and colourful, and fittingly 10 years since we first attended Glasgow Pride in Glasgow Green.
The success of Pride events is a testament to the power of the people, and the real sense of community was beautiful. It is great to have recognition from the organisation to support Pride events so proudly.”

Scottish Water is proud to celebrate a decade of support for Glasgow's Pride, marking ten years of championing diversity and inclusion. This milestone coincides with the 10th anniversary of the LGBT+ Belong group at Scottish Water, which has been instrumental in fostering an environment of acceptance and support within the public organisation.
To celebrate the partnership, Scottish Water took to Glasgow’s city centre to officially launch their latest bright blue Top Up Tap during the Pride Event. The tap, which is conveniently located next to People’s Palace on the West Carriageway at Glasgow Green saw hundreds of Pride Goers stop by to fill their water bottles while taking part in the three mile long Pride March from Festival Park to Glasgow Green.
Glasgow’s growing network of water refill taps has now saved the equivalent of more than one million single-use plastic bottles since Scottish Water installed the city’s first Top Up Tap in 2018. The new refill tap - which brings Glasgow’s total to ten - is set to boost the figure even further.
Scottish Water provided 240 refillable bottles to thirsty Pride goers after the march, encouraging hydration and sustainability. The Top Up Tap not only provided cool, fresh water but also contributed significantly to reducing plastic waste, during the Pride celebrations.
As part of their wider ‘Your Water, Your Life' campaign, the publicly-owned utility has installed 124 distinctive bright blue taps throughout Scotland, providing a major boost to the country’s efforts to reduce single-use plastic waste and helping members of the public tap into Scotland’s water supply when out and about.
To date, Scottish Water’s Top Up Taps have dispensed the volume of more than 10 million bottles of tap water across the country.
